A fire-damaged house in Manson
Chelan · Fire damage, a vacant house and back taxes · Offer the next day; closed about a month later, on the seller's schedule
This house in Manson had a fire, and the owner wasn't able to repair it. It sat empty for years. Squatters moved in, junk vehicles and garbage piled up, and the property taxes fell far enough behind that the owner was going to lose it.
We heard about it through a local connection. The owner told us plainly that they needed to sell and wanted to hear an offer, so we walked the property and had a number to them the next day.
There was a lot to untangle. The back taxes were paid off at closing, and we helped coordinate getting the junk vehicles off the property. The seller picked the closing date, about a month out, and left with cash in hand to relocate.
The house was then fixed up and sold to a family. The neighbors were as glad as anyone: after years of a burned, empty house on the street, they got a finished home and new neighbors.
